Added a bloody facebook page! The
'just like honey festival' went well for me, and I think for Iva and
Milos too. Jirka Geisel did a great job in organizing such a
fezzie with bands like 'Bee and Flower' - not sure it was appreciated
quite as much as it could have been though. My night was quite
quiet but let's say select. Chester turned out to be a very nice guy
whose car had broken down and so stayed with us for a few days with his
partner, Amity. Eoghan O'Reilly gave me a little write up on his blog, here, which was nice of him. There
should be some pictures knocking about somewhere - I'll post them if
anyone sends me a link. So what's coming up - recording but this time
with the Meclopin boys in Rymarov. It seems they have sorted themselves
out a studio and they've invited me over to play on their cd. Should be
fun. I'm still working on the mixes for our stuff at the moment - wage
work really does get in the way sometimes!

Concert
on May 10th, 2012. I'm supporting a travelling, English
singer-songwriter named Chester. Looking forward to meeting him and
having a play. I'm not sure if I'm just going to play solo or ask Iva
and Milos to come along. We'll see......hmmmmm....
lost sounds
and hard drive clutter.
Well, it's
nearly warm enough to start working upstairs again. I've started to
rearrange the studio and put the mixing desk in for a service. I've
also got hold of a nice old tesla extension speaker to use as a mono
monitor a la 'Auratone 5C'. I'm excited. Spring cleaning the hard
drive, I came across some older stuff that I haven't looked at for a
while and one song from a winter improv upstairs. Here it is:
Well,
it's been quite a quiet few months and with temperatures often below
-25c. I played a solo gig in Olomouc in January at a nice little place
called, 'Hoblina'. One of the sweetest gigs
I've ever played. Big thanks to Jiri.
Apart
from that, I've been working on our recordings but with the studio/loft
being so cold, progress is slow. Out of frustration, I recorded a few
solo songs onto a polish reel to reel, Unitra ZK 246 in the picture,
and TDK Adua tape as a practise. Buggered up the levels big time!
Still, it's activity :)
Not
directly related to music but anyway - the Czech
documentary
photographer, Jindřich
Štreit, came to our house and photographed us as
part of a project documenting the lives of foreigners living in the
Czech Republic. Not sure what I think about the shot that was chosen (I
definitely don't smoke when the kids are around normally) but you
know how it is; I should respect artistic license and all. The
exhibition is
to take place on November
the 15th at divadlo Archa in Prague.
So
we are still
recording in the loft
at the moment. It's going well but
getting colder by the day. Miloš has ended up with a chest infection
(hopefully not directly caused by the recording) and Iva's out of the
loop having just given birth to a
new baby boy, Lukaš. She's already
put down most of her stuff so looks like I'm going to be left alone in
the cold to mix - Jura and hopefully Phil Stutely in the UK
will be
laying down their bass parts soon.
